Holomua Consulting Group Recipient of 2015 Small Business Makeover

Holomua Consulting Group was honored to be selected for a 2015 Small Business Makeover through a program sponsored by Hawaii Business Magazine and Hawaii National Bank.  The Small Business Makeover program pairs Hawaii small businesses (less than 250 employees) with leaders in notable industries. Winning businesses were selected by a panel in late 2014/early 2015 and paired with a coach that provided up to ten (10) hours of free one-on-one mentorship over several months in order to enhance a specific area of operation.  This year the program was concluded with the Small Biz Makeover Lunch event at the YWCA Laniakea where the coaches/panelists provided tips to small business owners and makeover recipients shared their experience(s) in working with their coach/mentor.

Holomua Consulting Group received a makeover in the area of Business Development and was paired with Jan Kaeo of Dale Carnegie Training Hawaii & Guam.  Jan is incredibly knowledgeable about business development and has been a tremendous resource for our company. At the time we began working with Jan, our business was in a critical business development stage and so we feel very fortunate to have been paired with Jan through the Small Business Makeover program. 

Some of the specific items that Holomua worked with Jan on were:

• Identification of professional organizations/associations to join, partner with or simply connect with;
• Identification of events (professional and/or educational) to attend;
• Prioritization of business development efforts;
• Implementation of strategies/techniques to increase attendance at Holomua's workshops and convert attendees to clients;
• Implementation of strategies/techniques to maximize return on attending relevant conferences or trade shows.

This was a wonderful experience for our company and we encourage all small businesses to consider applying for the program for 2016.
