To support businesses that have made it their goal to pursue the SBA 8(a) program in 2018, Holomua Consulting Group, LLC will be hosting a workshop on the Ins and Outs of the SBA 8(a) Program on Wednesday, January 24th from 9am to 10:30 am at our office located at the Airport Industrial Park.
The workshop will provide attendees with a detailed overview of the 8(a) program so they know what to expect as they pursue the program and how to properly prepare for the application process and ongoing compliance. To simplify the complex program, Holomua will address the following four main areas during this workshop:
  • Benefits of the Program;
  • Eligibility Requirements;
  • Application Process; and,
  • Maintaining Compliance Post-Certification.

On Wednesday, October 18 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m., Holomua Consulting Group will be hosting a workshop on the SBA's 8(a) Business Development Program at our office located at the Airport Industrial Park.  This is a great opportunity for anyone that has/is considering the 8(a) program or is currently working toward getting their company ready to apply for the program.

Holomua Consulting Group is pleased to host the 2nd installment in our "Coffee Talk for Federal Contractors" series.  "Coffee Talk" is an open and informal forum for individuals and businesses to network and discuss various topics related to federal government contracting.  Each month features a different speaker and/or topic relevant to those that do business with the federal government.  This month's "Coffee Talk" will feature a Q&A session with Ms. Cariann Ah Loo, the President of Na Ali'i Consulting & Sales ("Na Ali'i).  Na Ali'i is a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned firm currently entering their third year in the SBA's 8(a) Business Development Program and was recently named Pacific Business News' #1 Fastest Growing Small Business in Hawaii for 2016.  Join us for this Q&A with Ms. Ah Loo to learn about maximizing the benefits of the 8(a) Business Development Program and navigating the federal market.

Holomua Consulting Group Welcomes Intern Sarah Watanabe for the Summer

Holomua Consulting Group is pleased to announce that Sarah Watanabe has joined our company as a Marketing Intern for the Summer.  Sarah was born and raised in Hawaii and is  a 2015 graduate of Punahou School.  She is currently attending Boston University where she intends to graduate in 3 years with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in finance.  After obtaining her undergraduate degree, Sarah intends to backpack through Europe and pursue a JD/MBA.    She loves watching baseball and has been to numerous Red Sox games during the school year. In addition, Sarah loves surfing, boating, and being on the water. 
Sarah's internship with our company is through the Kāpili ʻOihana Internship Program (KOIP), a program administered and coordinated by Kamehameha Schools.  According to their website, KOIP "is designed to streamline access for organizations to college students in the most cost efficient and cost effective manner and to create a pipeline of talent for future workforce."  

KOIP supports a project-based learning approach and so we've worked with Sarah to create what we hope will provide her with a meaningful project to work on over the Summer related to marketing for small businesses. In the few weeks that she has been with us, Sarah has already added tremendous value to our operations.

Holomua Consulting Group is proud to be a KOIP site and we encourage other businesses to consider signing up to be a KOIP site next summer.  More information on the program can be found on the program website which can be reached by clicking HERE.

Holomua Consulting Group Launches Office Hours

We at Holomua Consulting Group are often contacted by individuals and businesses with questions on various topics related to federal contracting.  Often, we get the same or similar questions from different individuals and at the very least, the information we provide in response to these inquiries may be relevant or of interest to a broader audience. 

In order to: (1) provide you with the information you really want; (2) make that information accessible to others; and (3) accomplish those things in an interactive format, we've decided to launch our very first Office Hours.  

What It Is:  HCG Office Hours is a 1-hour live Q&A session done via webinar.

When:  Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Hawaii Standard Time.

Who:  Our Team (Shannon, Daphne & Kanoe) and YOU!

Topic:  Small business contracting programs such as the 8(a) Business Development, WOSB/EDWOSB, HUBZone, and SDVOSB programs.  Examples include:  what does it mean to be economically disadvantaged, how can these programs benefit me, how long is the application process for the 8(a) program and much more!

How It Works:   Submit your questions in advance via email at info@holomuaconsulting.com or when you register for our Office Hours and we will answer them during the webinar.   We will also be taking questions during the live webinar.

Holomua Consulting Group's President Shannon Edie was presented with AFCEA Hawaii's Executive of the Month award at their monthly luncheon on January 23, 2016 at Hale Ikena.   

This award recognizes individuals displaying excellence in Hawaii/Pacific commercial, public sector or Military professional duties.  It also provides recognition of the relevance and importance Hawaii-based leaders have brought to the local business, government and/or military management structure.  
Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International is a member-based, non-profit organization that helps members advance information technology, communications and electronics capabilities. AFCEA Hawaii is made up of over 750 members representing the military, federal government, and industry.

Kanoe Tjorvatjoglou Joins Holomua Consulting Group

Holomua Consulting Group is pleased to announce that Kanoe Tjorvatjoglou has joined our company as a Junior Consultant.   Kanoe received her BA in Global Governance from George Mason University in Virginia.  After college, Kanoe joined Crossroads Campaigns Solutions where she specialized in political and organizational campaign fieldwork.  Kanoe eventually moved back to Hawaii in 2013 to work on Colleen Hanabusa's United States Senate campaign.  

Kanoe is a valuable addition to our team and will focus on small business contracting programs, regulatory/legislative affairs and corporate marketing initiatives.  

Kanoe's father is originally from Greece and she herself is able to read, write and speak Greek.  In her free time, Kanoe enjoys cooking and attending University of Hawaii sporting events with her fiancé (Go Bows).   Welcome Kanoe!
